Seasonal Scenes to Inspire
Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter, they all have their special feel as nature endows the landscape with each season's particular colours and flora
Spring into Action
As winter gives way to Spring, the cold blues start to take on a dash of yellow to turn them into that vivid new spring green that I love so much
A trio of Gemsbok (aka oryx) pictured as I remembered them from childhood days in Africa in the Kalahari Desert.
The painting, done in tinted charcoal paints and watercolours, shows the first rays of the day's sun adding a golden tint to the edges of the sand dunes.
The golden light from the setting sun is reflected in the waves gently lapping the shores around Southport in this watercolour painting.
It features a lone figure, hands in pockets and head down lost in thought, striding out across the wet sands.
Sunset over the Shetland Isles where the fading rays of sunlight are reflected in the rippling waves lapping on shore.
The scene is drawn in soft pastel on mid-brown paper.
As the setting sun gets low on the horizon, beams of sunlight break through the mass of dark clouds and stream across a harbour.
The sunlight and clouds are dramatically reflected in the water as the beams of light reach out to highlight the boatshed and pathway on the opposite side. Painted in acrylics on paper.
Dramatic colours created by the setting sun are reflected in the waters of a Scottish loch.
In the foreground are the ruins of a castle which is backlit against the setting sun to add more drama to the scene which is painted in watercolours.
Sparkling Summer days
Spring started to warm things up, but now it's Summer's turn to brighten everywhere with vivid splashes of bright, vibrant colours to match the hot sun

Autumn
As temperatures start to cool down, Autumn ramps up the heat by splashing everywhere in glorious, spicy shades of reds, oranges, golds and browns

Winter wonderlands
The classic
A trio of Gemsbok (aka oryx) pictured as I remembered them from childhood days in Africa in the Kalahari Desert.
The painting, done in tinted charcoal paints and watercolours, shows the first rays of the day's sun adding a golden tint to the edges of the sand dunes.
"Safe and Snug" uses the warm red in the curtain and browns of the window frame to create a cozy vantage point from which to view the scene outside.
This acrylic painting on stretched canvas then also uses the cool blues, greens, greys and white snow to complete the chilly winter scene.
This watercolour painting takes the viewer down a snow-covered road heading into town on a misty early morning.
Snow-laden trees and snow piled on the stone walls and field gate give a crisp, cool feel to the foreground that contrasts with the pale, hazy shapes of the town ahead with its towers and spires looming up out of the misty background.
Pale pink colours of sunrise are reflected on both the snow and the water in this wintery painting of the scene behind my sister's stableyard.
The white of the snow-laden tree branches crossing the stream make a dramatic contrast with the dark of those branches painted in watercolours.
