I created this portrait of one of my favourite actors, Benedict Cumberbatch, in the role of Sherlock which is my favourite role of his. The portrait has that intense, missing nothing, stare that he achieves so easily while the costume has the classic upturned collar on the dark overcoat that we always seem to see Sherlock wearing. The background represents that dark Victorian London landscape where so much of the tales of Sherlock Holmes is set. Even though this version of the TV show cleverly brings in the modern-day technology, it still feels like it is set around 150 years ago in Victorian London.
The portrait is an ideal gift for a fan of the modern Sherlock, but don't forget, if you have another actor whose portrait you would like capturing instead, you can easily commission me to do one of them.
The portrait is painted on stretched canvas in acrylics; 30 x 40 cm. This original artwork continues round the edge of the canvas so it does not need framing; it is supplied ready to hang and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
